She's one of the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood and on television. But Katherine Heigl cut a rather bizarre figure as she stepped out in New York on Tuesday.
In direct contrast to her smart outfit of a belted dress and boots, Heigl decided not to bother wearing makeup or styling her hair.
As a result, the 31-year-old looked pale and washed out, with her blonde hair looking in need of a good brush.
The 27 Dresses star may have no time left for grooming after having adopted one-year-old daughter Naleigh from Korea as a newborn last September Or perhaps she is trying to get away from her diva image, which she admits has been a problem for her.
'I’ve been told I’m too forthright with opinions,' she tells the New York Times.

And she admits that while she feels comfortable being glamourous on set, she has trouble in the 'real' world.

She says: 'I feel totally normal on a set, probably because I’ve spent so much of my life on one. It’s when I go out into the real world that I don’t seem to know what to do.
Katherine is currently starring in new film Life As We Know It, with Josh Duhamel. She plays a woman who is forced to raise a baby with a friend after their friend's will obligates them both.
And Duhamel is impressed with his co-star's independent ways.
He says: 'People like to bash women who are strong. Unless you sweetly say what you’re supposed to say, you’re somehow difficult.'
The film also stars Josh Lucas and Christina Hendricks and is released in the U.S on October 8th.

Tom, 47, and Cameron, 38, were snapped today at the Tokyo premiere of their film, which was released in the U.S. and the UK at the beginning of August and has already dropped out of cinemas across both countries.
But if the Western world is sick of the sight of them by now, their reception in the Land of the Rising Sun was a different story.
They were given a rapturous welcome as they arrived at the Roppongi Hills Arena today.

'It has been a great challenge. It's a great book, a brilliant character and a wonderful cast,' said Roberts.
'Filming in each country had its own challenges and appeal,' she continued, adding that she admired Gilbert for being 'so smart and funny'.

But last night Michael Douglas found the strength to walk the red carpet to promote his new movie Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
The 65-year-old actor, who is undergoing chemo and radiotherapy for throat cancer, attended the premiere in New York.
He was supported by his very own leading lady, wife Catherine Zeta Jones, 40, who gave her husband a loving kiss on the lips as they posed for photographs.
She looked stunning in a floor-length black gown, while Douglas looked dapper in a two-piece suit.
His appearance on the red carpet proved he has the confidence and grit of his on-screen character, corporate raider Gordon Gekko.
The Academy Award-winning actor was joined by co-stars including Shia LaBeouf and Carey Mulligan and director Oliver Stone, but didn't give any interviews last night to reporters.

LaBeouf called Douglas a 'wolf', noting he showed no signs of weakness while making the Wall Street sequel, which opens Friday.
Stone said 'it's a struggle' and 'it's tough,' but Douglas is 'fighting'.
Stone also directed the original 'Wall Street' in 1987. The movie featured Charlie Sheen as a stockbroker hungry for success. Douglas won an Oscar for playing Gekko.
Douglas, who has two children with Zeta Jones, has spoken openly about his illness in recent weeks.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, he said:'I'm in the middle of my program, and it's going along fine.

'I'm very optimistic and hopeful right now. My family has been very supportive. There's not a lot that anybody can do. You've just got to kind of do the program.

In an interview with US magazine, the actor spoke further about his illness, saying he remained positive he would return to full health.
'Life is not all ha-ha-ha but I'm in good spirits. I'm an optimistic guy. Nothing has deterred me from my belief that I am going to beat this,' Douglas told the publication
'My doctors' prognosis is for a full recovery. I have no reason to doubt them.'
During the interview, wife Catherine, 40, added, 'Michael has always seen our family through life's challenges with compassion and humour. This is no exception. Together we will get through this, and we will be better for it - because of him. He is our rock.'

Douglas also revealed how his children watched him being treated for cancer - and thought it was 'cool'.
The star invited his son Dylan, 10, and daughter Carys, seven - from his marriage to Zeta Jones - to see him undergoing radiotherapy.
Douglas said they were not upset by the experience in a New York hospital.
He told a US magazine: 'They actually thought it was cool, like a video game or Star Wars. They were very impressed when the doctors let them press the buttons.
'They weren't frightened. And fear is one of our biggest enemies. We told the kids a couple days after I was tested and it was confirmed.'

Douglas, who is married to Swansea-born Catherine Zeta-Jones, also took them to a jail to visit his son from a previous marriage, 31-year-old Cameron, who is serving five years for a drugs offence.
'Catherine and I always try to be completely honest with them,' he explained. 'I've taken them to federal prison to visit Cameron. The last thing they need is to get this information from outside sources rather than experiencing it first-hand with a parent who can help them understand.'
He hoped that talking about his illness would help others. 'Not going public with having cancer was not much of an option, even if I had objected,' the Oscar-winning actor said.
'When you are a celebrity, nothing remains secret for very long. If it helps bring attention, then that is a major upside to this whole thing.
'Millions of families are going through the same thing my family and I are now going through. If I can bring any relief or encouragement to those suffering, that's the good news,' he added.

Kylie looked radiant at the premiere, showing no sign of any stress over taking medication for her breast cancer treatment.
Earlier this week, Kylie revealed she has often visited her doctors in tears because she doesn't want to take the drugs anymore, but her oncologist has insisted they are vital in her recovery.
And Kylie said she will continue on the drugs until next year, explaining: 'I will finish early next year and that will be amazing, but I’ve also heard that you can feel quite insecure when you first come off it because you have relied on this medication for so long. It’s going to be a big adjustment.'

The Kid, which has a 15 certificate, is based on the book by Kevin Lewis about his childhood experiences of being bullied at school, and beaten and starved by his parents.
A NSPCC spokesman said: 'The NSPCC believes The Kid is a compelling, emotional and ultimately uplifting film that shows how a child with the right help can triumph over abuse, and go on to have a happy, fulfilled life.
'The charity hopes that every adult who watches the film understands how vital it is to speak up if they are worried about a child.'

Natalie Portman made a quick change at the Toronto International Film Festival today as she promoted her new film Black Swan.
The 29-year-old actress started the day in a casual knitted grey dress and black pumps for a press conference for the film before changing into a pretty black and white ruffled dress and heels for the movie's premiere.
And it's no wonder Natalie couldn't keep the smile off her face, as she has already been tipped for an Oscar for her role in the film, which has received rave reviews at the festival.

Speaking about the buzz surrounding the film today, Natalie said: 'It's very, very flattering. The best thing you can hope for is that people are entertained and moved by your work. And people are responding really positively.'
In the film, Natalie plays Nina, a prima ballerina chosen to lead a New York City production of Swan Lake in the Darren Aronofsky-directed thriller centred around the relationship between two competing dancers.

And Natalie had to undertake intense ballet training to ensure she was in the best shape possible for the film.

'But my trainers, including The New York City Ballet's Mary Helen Bowers and Georgina Pazcoguin, were all so instrumental in shaping all of that. I had the greatest people in the ballet world training me.'
